The Public Health Inspector’s Union of Sri Lanka says it has been observed that some individuals are misusing the relaxed regulations provided to conduct wedding ceremonies.

Current guidelines state up to 150 individuals are allowed to attend weddings.

The Chairman of the PHI Union Upul Rohana said a decision will have to be taken pertaining to the matter in the future as coronavirus clusters related to weddings are increasing with higher number of infections reported.

Rohana added it is advisable for weddings to be attended only by those who have obtained COVID vaccines or undergone PCR tests or Antigen tests.

The Chairman of the PHI Union requested those attending weddings and operators of the relevant venues to act responsibly and to strictly adhere to health guidelines as conduct of wedding may have to be limited or restricted if the COVID situation deteriorates.
