Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Shantha Bandara says the people’s struggle deviated from its original purpose, since the group failed to implement a stringent programme.
Speaking in parliament yesterday, the MP charges members of the people’s struggle for not being able to implement a systematic approach to achieve their own objectives, and instead attempting to bring about a system change in the country.
MP Bandara noted, a system change was necessary for Sri Lanka despite it being a challenge.
MP Bandara questioned the progress of talks in Parliament over implementing certain changes in the culture of the state sector.
He said talks were ignored by state officials and public representatives.
Also speaking in Parliament, Parliamentarian Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon said nowhere in the world has a group of people achieved democracy by burdening public representatives.
The MP said political stability can only be obtained if the rule of law is upheld in Sri Lanka.
Recalling the President’s speech, MP Bandara said all political parties collided due to differences of opinions on certain matters.
However, the Parliamentarian called on Parliament to set aside such differences and rally together to ensure a safe future for the citizens.
Commenting on the economic crisis, he challenged the public to change the way they think and work in order to overcome the present issues.
