The term of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry tasked to review reports on past human rights and humanitarian law violations has been extended by six months.
Accordingly, the Commissions term has been extended till the 21st of January 2022.
The Commission was appointed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the 21st of January this year.
The Commission was granted six months to submit its final report, which is due to end on the 21st of July.
A special gazette notification signed by the President was issued extending the term of the Commission by six months.
