COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Senior Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Member of Parliament Pavithra Wanniarachchi and the General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress Jeevan Thondaman have been appointed as Cabinet Ministers.
The President’s Media Division said MP Pavithra Wanniarachchi took oaths as the new Cabinet Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation this morning.
The PMD said MP Jeevan Thondaman took oaths as the new Cabinet Minister of the Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development at the Presidential Secretariat a short while ago.
Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake was also present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said he has stepped down as the Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation.
However, he will remain the Cabinet Minister of Agriculture.
Minister Amaraweera said he decided to step down from the portfolio to allow the President to appoint a new Minister for the post.
