The road leading to Parliament at the Polduwa junction has been closed.
Police have requested motorists to use alternative roads.
Meanwhile, Parliament is scheduled to convene under new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at 10 am.

However, Leader of the United National Party Ranil Wickremesinghe on the 12th of May took oaths as the country’s Prime Minister for the sixth occasion.
Meanwhile, Parliament will elect a Deputy Speaker this morning due to the resignation of Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
Names of Ajith Rajapakse and Rohini Kumari Wijerathna have been proposed for the Deputy Speaker’s post.
Meanwhile, the No-Confidence Motion presented against the President is also expected to be taken up in Parliament today.
Security has also been beefed up in and around Parliament. Military and Police personnel have been deployed in the vicinity of Parliament.
