A request by the Cinnamon Gardens Police to the Colombo High Court to issue an order preventing a planned protest campaign at 2pm that was due to head to the University Grants Commission has been rejected.
The protest campaign was organised by the Intellectual Forum for People led by Prof. Ananda Wijewickrama.
The order was issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala.
The Magistrate however informed Police to take legal action in the event health guidelines issued by the Director General of Health Services are violated during the protest.
