COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Ministry of Transport says necessary steps will be taken for the introduction of online technology to submit photos for driving licenses and vehicle registration directly through registered photo studios.
During a discussion between Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardena and members of the All Lanka Professional Photo Studio Owners’ Association, it was agreed the Commissioner-General of Motor Traffic will be directed to introduce the new methodology, similar to the process currently being used to apply for National Identity Cards and passports.
At present, photos of applicants are directly sent to the relevant departments by registered photo studios.
Around 7,000 member photo booths provide the service at present.
Accordingly, an agreement has been reached to use online technology to submit photos when applying for driving licenses and vehicle registration in future.
