The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau says several facts have been uncovered following investigations conducted into women residing at the safe house of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Oman.
The SLFBE said details pertaining human trafficking have also been revealed while future steps will be taken by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The Bureau stated that based on investigations, legal action will be taken against individuals who violated the Bureau Act and persons involved in human trafficking.
The SLFBE said investigative officers recorded statements from 84 women who were at the safe house in Oman.
Accordingly, suspects involved in people smuggling have been identified while investigative officers of the Bureau and the CID are jointly engaged in efforts to arrest the group to pursue legal action.
