The Department of Examinations says the time allocated for question papers for this year’s Grade 5 Scholarship Examination has not been significantly increased.
The Commissioner of the Research and Development Division of the Department Gayathri Abeygunasekara addressing a media briefing said the time allocated for question papers will be the same as last year.
Abeygunasekara said the first paper which was usually 45 minutes has been increased to one hour.
She said 1 hour and 15 minutes will be given to face the second paper that will begin at 11am and conclude at 12:15pm.
Joining the media briefing Commissioner General of Examinations LMD Dharmasena said the Scholarship Exam will be held on a Saturday as opposed to the usual Sunday.
Dharmasena said the first paper part of the examination will commence at 9:30am and conclude at 10:30am.
He said a total of 340,508 candidates will sit this year’s Grade 5 Scholarship Exam at 2,943 centres across the island.
Dharmasena said 496 coordinating centres have also been set up while 108 examination centres have been organized to facilitate students who have tested positive for COVID-19.
