The Ceylon Electricity Board informs that power cuts will not be enforced today (17).

The CEB attributed the decision to the conduct of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination tomorrow (18).

Two hour and 20 minute power cuts were due to be enforced over the weekend (17 & 18).

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka granted approval for the power cuts.

However, considering the conduct of the Scholarship and the inconvenience to students, a decision has been reached not to enforce power cuts today.

Meanwhile, the Department of Examination said all preparations are in place for the conduct of the 2022 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination to be worked off tomorrow (18).

34,698 students are set to sit the Scholarship Exam.

Commissioner General of Examinations LMD Dharmasena urged parents not to pressure students prior to the examination.

The Department of Examinations previously informed that admission cards will not be issued for the 2022 Scholarship Examination. Instead an attendance system will be used for candidates sitting the exam.

Meanwhile, the method of handing out question papers of the Scholarship Exam has been amended.

Accordingly, the second question paper will be handed out first followed by the first question paper.

The Ministry of Education said the method of issuing the question papers was amended after extensive study of the timetable system of previous years. Accordingly, this new system will be implemented tomorrow.

Accordingly, the second paper will be one hour and 15 minutes long while the second paper will be one hour in duration.
