COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Scheduled powers cuts will not be enforced today owing to the conduct of the 2022 GCE Advanced Level Examination.

An agreement was reached yesterday between the Ministry of Power and Energy, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to ensure uninterrupted power supply until the conclusion of the A/L exam.

The agreement was reached when several factions including the Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy were summoned before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.

The Human Rights Commission summoned the officials since the CEB continued impose daily power cuts despite previous requests not to do so.

Accordingly, during yesterday’s meeting an arrangement was made to supply electricity continuously until the conclusion of the A/L exam.

The CPC also agreed to provide necessary fuel for power generation and funding will be arranged by the Ministry.
