COLOMBO (NewsRadio); An agreement has been reached today between the Ministry of Power and Energy, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to ensure uninterrupted power supply until the conclusion of the A/L exam.
The agreement was reached when several factions including the Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy were summoned before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
The Human Rights Commission summoned the officials since the CEB continued impose daily power cuts despite previous requests not to do so.
Accordingly, during today’s meeting an arrangement has been made to supply electricity continuously until the conclusion of the A/L exam.
The CPC also agreed to provide necessary fuel for power generation and funding will be arranged by the Ministry.
The CEB has been imposing two-hour-and-20-minute power cuts during the past few weeks while the duration was reduced to two hours earlier this week, considering the A/L exam.
However, several factions called on authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply at least during the examination period.
