Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage says a decision has not been reached to import chemical fertiliser for paddy cultivation.
The Minister speaking in Parliament today said a decision in this regard was not reached at a meeting held under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning.
The Minister said a decision was however reached to import a special type of fertiliser for vegetable cultivation.
Minister Aluthgamage said the recent inclement weather had an adverse impact on vegetables, adding that therefore the Director General of Agriculture was informed of the decision to import a special fertiliser.
The Minister also stated that the decision to move towards a health conscious agriculture lifestyle was not easy, claiming he will stand in support of the decision despite the difficulties and challenge that have arisen.
