The Cabinet of Minister has lifted the control price imposed on rice for both wholesale and retail sales.
The Cabinet of Ministers convened last evening. Accordingly, Cabinet approval was granted to import a buffer stock of 100,000MT of rice.
However Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardana speaking to media following the Cabinet meeting said, a decision on prices of milk powder, wheat flour, cement and domestic gas cylinders was not reached.
Meanwhile, a decision was reached for the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to fund the release of containers with essential food items that have been held up at the Colombo Port.
