COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha says the dates announced to conduct the Grade Five Scholarship Examination and the GCE Advanced Level Exam will not be changed.
The Ministry of Education had announced previously that it has decided to conduct the Grade Five Scholarship Examination on the 18th of December.
Meanwhile, according to the announcement, the A/L exam will be held from the 23rd of January 2023 to the 17th of February 2023.
Minister Susil Premajayantha noted that after considering several requests from students and the public, the new dates were announced.
He said there were a number of requests from students hoping to sit for the second and third time to postpone the A/L exam which was previously scheduled to be held in December while public representatives also expressed their support for a postponement in Parliament.
The Education Minister said that after the release of A/L exam results this year, students who are hoping to sit for the exam again have three months to prepare for it.
Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha stressed that the relevant postponement was based on data obtained from a survey regarding various problematic situations that have arisen in the country due to the COVID-19 crisis and the completion of A/L syllabus in nine provinces.
Education Minister Premajayantha said after taking all these facts into account, new examination dates were announced and noted that no fresh requests have been received for another postponement.
