The National Investigation Agency in India is set to investigate a Sri Lankan human trafficking plot in Karnataka.
They will pursue 38 Lankan nationals who were arrested in Mangaluru city where Karnataka Police raided the alleged racket under a major operation.
All Lankans were reportedly lodged at various hotels in the Lort City and had crossed India’s border illegally with no valid documents in their possession.
The 38 Lankans have been lured by promises of jobs in Canada and had paid Rs.500,000 to Rs.1 million to the agents and arrived in Tamil Nadu on a boat in early March.
On June 11, the City Police had announced to have arrested 38 Sri Lankan nationals who were party to a human-trafficking scandal.
