The Public Health Inspectors Union says COVID-19 infections and deaths could be reduced drastically during the next two weeks, if citizens adhere to quarantine curfew regulations currently in place across the island.
Chairman of the Union Upul Rohana said cases and deaths are expected to increase as reported during the whole of last week, since the virus is spreading at a rapid pace among communities.
The Chairman urged the public to follow strict health and safety protocols even after the 10 days of quarantine curfew, in order to avoid irreversible damages to lives and the country.
Upul Rohana urged the public to stay at home and follow precautions in order to reap results of imposing curfew.
He stressed many groups pointed out the need to impose a lockdown and flatten the curve of infections.
Therefore he stressed on the importance of acting responsibly, and not misusing permission from authorities granted to essential service providers.
