The Inter-University Students Federation says it has no confidence that the issues of the people will be resolved under the new government.
Convener of the IUSF Wasantha Mudalige addressing a gathering in Kandy said the IUSF hopes to strengthen the struggle at GotaGoGama by organising protests across the country with the intent of removing the present administration from power.
Mudalige said public displeasure against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the accumulation of issues faced by various parties including farmers, fishermen, and students. Mudalige further stated after being appointed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated the public faced difficulties in sourcing three meals a day.
Mudalige said subsequently when addressing the nation, Premier Wickremesinghe advised the public to resort to cultivating manioc to meet their food needs while issuing warnings of tough times ahead.
Mudalige condemned the Premier’s comments and stated it was foolish to place blind faith in such individuals.
He questioned if such individuals would provide solutions to the nation’s issues.
