Nearly 4,400 dengue cases reported in 2023

A total of 4,387 suspected dengue cases have been reported in the country so far this year.

COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A total of 4,387 suspected dengue cases have been reported in the country so far this year.

The highest number of suspected dengue cases has been reported from the Colombo and Puttalam districts.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 741 suspected dengue cases have been reported from Colombo while 625 cases have been reported from Puttalam so far in 2023.

Meanwhile, 491 cases have been reported from Gampaha, 397 from Kalmunai and 351 cases from Jaffna.

Sri Lanka recorded 66,376 suspected cases in 2022.

The Health Ministry said a majority of the cases was reported from the Western Province.

Meanwhile, due to the increase in dengue cases, the Health Ministry said the general public must seek medical attention in the event of fever at least by day three of the illness.
