The Sri Lanka Navy has seized 126kg of Kerala cannabis and over 2kg of the drug Methamphetamine known as ‘Ice’ during a foot patrol in Velvettithurai, Jaffna this morning.
The Navy also nabbed three suspects in connection to the incident and seized a cab used to transport the consignment.
The Navy uncovered the illegal drugs while conducting a foot patrol along the Velvettithurai beach and inspected a group on suspicion of loading polythene sacks to a cab parked at the beach.
126kg of Kerala cannabis was found in 60 parcels and 2kg and 330g of ice with a total estimated street value of Rs.50 million was seized.
The narcotics, the three suspects between the ages of 32 and 38, and the cab have been handed over to the Velvettithurai Police for further legal action.
