The Sri Lanka Navy has seized two Indian trawlers with 22 Indian fishermen while poaching in Sri Lankan waters.
The arrest was made in seas north of Kankasanthurai, during a patrol carried out last night.
The Navy arrested the 22 Indian fishermen for engaging in bottom trawling in Lankan waters.
The Navy also seized a stock of fish caught illegally through the illegal fishing method.
Arrangements are being made to hand over the Indian poaching vessels and fishermen to relevant authorities.
With the two Indian trawlers seized last night, the Navy has seized eight Indian fishing vessels with 51 fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters, thus far in February.
