COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The National ’Vesak Week’ commences today.
The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs has declared the ’Vesak Week’ from today to the 8th of May.
The Ministry of Buddhasasana said various religious and social programmes will be held during the period.
The government previously announced that the State Vesak festival will be held at the Kebellewela Sri Rathanasiri Piriven Viharaya in Chilaw under the theme of ‘Be a light to yourself’.
The State Vesak festival is scheduled to be held under the patronage of the Chief Prelate of the three Chapters with the participation of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayaka later this week.
