Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka claims the Ministry of Agriculture committed fraud by claiming nano nitrogen fertilizer brought from India was organic fertilizer.
Speaking during a special media briefing regarding a complaint lodged against him at the Criminal Investigation Department by Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage,
MP Ranawaka said the stock of nano nitrogen fertilizer that was imported from India is a chemical fertiliser.
He said the Ministry of Agriculture has deceived the public while purportedly imposing a ban on the use of chemical organic fertiliser.
MP Patali Champika Ranawaka said the Agriculture Minister made claims pertaining to nano urea and nano nitrogen in an attempt to confuse the farmers after making a bold statement that the government will only use organic fertiliser in the country.
MP Ranawaka noted the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative website clearly states that they only have nano urea and they do not produce any product called nano nitrogen.
He said after importing chemical fertiliser the Agriculture Minister is on a mission to deceive the public and hide his inefficiencies.
