COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Colombo High Court today acquitted Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Nalaka Godahewa and two others, in a case filed in relation to the alleged misappropriation of state funds amounting to Rs.5 million.
Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja released MP Nalaka Godahewa, former Deputy Director-General of the Securities Exchange Commission and Sports Director of ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ organization Ronnie Ibrahim from the case, on account of insufficient evidence to prove that the accused are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The trio was accused of allegedly misappropriating Rs.5 million belonging to the Securities Exchange Commission.
The Attorney General had served indictments on the trio but after a lengthy trial, they have been acquitted.
