(NewsRadio); The government is working on increasing the number of flights between Colombo and Middle Eastern destinations.
Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando has held discussions in this regard.
Minister Fernando said he held talks with the Senior Vice President- Commercial of Emirates Airlines, Ahmed Khoory to promote Sri Lanka tourism as well as increasing the frequency of Emirates flights to Sri Lanka.
Minister Harin Fernando said, “Had a very successful meeting with Senior Vice President of Emirates Airlines Ahmed Khoory regarding promoting Sri Lanka tourism through the airline in-flight entertainment and other resources, to develop special packages for FIFA World Cup traffic to Sri Lanka & increase frequency of flights to Sri Lanka.”
Tourism Minister Fernando has been meeting local and international businesses and individuals involved in the tourism sector to increase the number of tourist arrivals.
Sri Lanka is currently dealing with a forex crisis and the economy is largely dependent on the tourism sector.
The number of tourist arrivals has shown an improvement in the past few weeks in comparison to the weeks where Sri Lanka experienced a major economic and political crisis.
