COLOMBO (NewsRadio); An individual in Sri Lanka requires at least Rs.13,810 for a month on average to afford a basic standard of living.
The assessment has been made by the Department of Census and Statistics for the month of October.
Meanwhile, during the month of September, the Department determined that an individual required Rs.13,772 to pay for basic needs.
According to the Census and Statistics Department, an individual residing in Colombo will require Rs.14,894 to afford basics while someone living in Monaragala will need Rs.13,204 to pay for basic requirements in a month.
Accordingly, Colombo has been considered the most expensive city to live in while Monaragala is considered the cheapest district in Sri Lanka at present.
Meanwhile, the Department of Census and Statistics has determined that a family of four in Sri Lanka on average would require Rs.55,240 to meet the basic needs per month.
