25-year-old Matthew Abeysinghe is scheduled to feature in the Men’s 100m Freestyle heats at the 2020 Tokyo Games tomorrow.
Abeysinghe will feature in Heat 4 of the event to be held at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre at 3.39pm. Abeysinghe has an entry time of 50.31s.
Dressel Caeleb of the United States who has a qualifying time of 46.96s and is favourite to win the Men’s 100m Freestyle event at the Games.
Meanwhile, Badminton Ace Niluka Karunaratne was knocked out of the Men’s Badminton Singles draw this afternoon.
Karunaratne suffered a 2-0 defeat against Ireland’s Nguyen Nhat.
He was defeated 21-16 and 21-14.
He was earlier beaten 2-0 by Chinese Taipei’s Tzu Wei Wang in his first game on Saturday at the Musashino Forest Plaza arena.
Wei Wang defeated Karunaratne 21-12 and 21-15. The 2020 Tokyo Games is Karunaratne’s third Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Sri Lanka’s national Judo champion Chamara Nuwan Dharmawardana was knocked out of the Judo Men’s 73kg event by Aden-Alexandre Houssein of Djibouti.
Houssein defeated Dharmawardana 10-0 in the Elimination Round of 32 at the Nippon Budokan arena this morning.
