25-year-old Matthew Abeysinghe failed to progress to the semi-finals of the 100m Freestyle event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
He finished 8th in Heat 4 recording a time of 50.62 secs at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.
Abeysinghe qualified for the Olympics with an entry time of 50.31s.
Hong Kong’s Ian Yentou came in first recording a time of 49.49, Armenia’s Arthur Barseghyan came in second with a timing of 49.78 and Cyprus’ Nikolas Antoniou came in third with a timing of 50 secs in Heat 4.
