Parliamentarian Mano Ganesan says hunting down average citizens who entered the President’s House and the Temple Trees in recent days, has become the latest duty of Police officers.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP Ganesan said people were motivated to enter such places after observing the actions of certain security and police personnel.
MP Mano Ganesan said people through videos saw several Police officers in uniform using the gyms or playing the piano at the President’s House and Temple Trees.
He said such actions prompted average Sri Lankans to visit the sites and take photographs.
The Parliamentarian said now Police are hunting down the people merely for taking photographs or visiting such places.
He said several of his constituents have also been summoned to the Police Crimes Division.
MP Mano Ganesan said when he met several diplomats in Colombo; they praised the demonstrations in Sri Lanka and touted them as the model protest movement.
He noted protests that happened in Europe and in the United States have concluded in violence and therefore he noted the importance of protests in the country ending without any violence.
