(NewsRadio); A 40-year-old man who had defrauded nearly Rs. 30 million by promising large returns for investments of unsuspecting individuals has been arrested.
Police said the individual in question had set up a private company and requested the public to invest in it for massive profits.
Subsequently, he had defrauded nearly Rs. 30 million from various individuals.
The 40-year-old, resident of Kegalle was apprehended by special crimes prevention unit officers based on nine complaints.
The Police Media Division said he was produced before the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was remanded till the 17th of May.
Further investigations are underway.
