Former President Maithripala Sirisena was today ordered to be present before court on the 14th of October in relation to a case being heard against him on charges of failing to prevent the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks as the Minister of Defence at the time.
The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage this afternoon (16).
The Magistrate issued the order when taking up a petition filed by Yesuraj Ganeshan, who lost a leg in the Easter bombings, and Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini.
Following details tabled by President’s Counsel Riyensi Arsacularatne, the Magistrate reached a decision to issue notice for former President Sirisena to appear before Court on the 14th of October.
