Our Power of People Party Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera says the government’s dignity has been completely destroyed due to the Yugadanavi Power Plant agreement.

Rathana Thera claimed the Minister of Energy had no knowledge that the Ministry of Finance entered an agreement to generate power using LNG.

The Thera during a meeting of the people’s council today with the participation of 11 government affiliated parties, in Eheliyagoda said this resulted in the trust placed in the government being tarnished.

Rathana Thera said they are unaware if the President even read the agreement adding however an unknown individual had approved it.

The Thera said he and the rest of the Ministers are unable to keep quiet without raising concerns. Rathana Thera said no one knows of the government’s actions. Joining the event, Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara said certain individuals propose resorting to tough decisions in the face of the current situation.

Minister Nanayakkara said however this will result in further burdening the public adding the upper class will not be affected.

He said they will not accept such solutions.

The Minister said the country must be saved from corrupt agreements.
