The National People’s Power claims there is no clear timeline for the all-party government proposed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe or in fulfilling responsibilities.
Party leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake speaking at a media briefing this afternoon, said various social groups, clergy, and the Sri Lanka Bar Association have called for an all-party government to be appointed as a short term solution to the political crisis.
However, the NPP leader charged that the President failed to specify the responsibilities, objectives, and timeline of the proposed all-party government.
MP Dissanayake claimed President Wickremesinghe is attempting to continue the present government for the next three years, till his term ends.
Accordingly, MP Dissanayake said the NPP will not be a part of an all-party government led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Also speaking on the NPPs opinion on the formation of an all party government, the Parliamentarian said they suggested for two MPs who do not have political objectives in mind to be appointed President and Prime Minister.
MP Dissanayake also called for an election to be held upon the completion of six months as an all party government, after Sri Lankas problems have been resolved.
However, The NPP Leader claimed that President Wickremesinghe forming a government with Dinesh Gunewardene as Prime Minister and Ministers from the SLPP, is not the spirit of an all party government.
