The Vehicle Importers’ Association says they will have to reluctantly comply with the government’s decision to not import vehicles in 2022.
Chairman of the Association Indika Sampath Merenchige when contacted by NewsRadio over the statement by the Minister of Finance yesterday that the importation of vehicles will not be allowed next year said, members of the Association are also aware of the foreign exchange crisis in the country.
He said there is no alternative due to the dollar crisis adding that they will seek concessions as they cannot engage in businesses, such as bank concessions in order to maintain businesses.
Merenchige said developed countries have sufficient reserves adding they too can engage in discussions to reach a solution.
