The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says it will not allow elections to be held in Sri Lanka according to the whims and fancies of India.
Speaking during a media briefing this morning, Parliamentarian Harshana Rajakaruna said although the SJB has the potential to win any election at the moment, there is no need to contest an election held to meet the needs of another country.
MP Rajakaruna said various representatives visited the country, after which government leaders reached a decision to hold elections.
The Parliamentarian said they are not opposed to the conduct of an election adding it is a favourable time for the SJB.
He urged the government not to reach decisions on internal affairs based on the requirements of India, China, the United States or the European Union, or any other foreign entity.
On a separate note, MP Rajakaruna said the country’s youth are leaving the country at present.
He said the citizens of the country including the youth have no other alternative but to leave as they have understood the dire situation.
The Parliamentarian said large crowds are forming opposite embassies.
MP Rajakaruna urged the government to resign and handover the country to a party that is capable of governing the country.
