The National Woke Council charges that the government is conspiring to create the ongoing people’s struggle into a conflict between security forces and the people.

Speaking at a media briefing Chairman of the Council Rt. Major General Thilak Ubhayawardena, said the government has understood that it cannot continue in governance.

Ubhayawardena said the country is in a situation where the President, the Prime Minister and other government members are unable to attend an official ceremony.

He said the government is using its henchmen to instil fear in the public from protesting together with the Sri Lanka Police and Army.

Ubhayawardena commenting on the recent unrest in Mirihana where a lone individual was seen setting a bus on fire said, all law enforcement authorities failed to prevent the individual from setting the bus on fire and merely watched on.
