Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa claims the President must be convinced to lead the country in the right directions, instead of focusing on ousting the Head of State.
Speaking during a meeting last evening, MP Weerawansa said the crisis cannot be solved without easing the burdens of the public.
The Parliamentarian said the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers must resign immediately paving way for a governing system that can gain the people’s trust.
He added certain groups are calling for the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa adding however that could lead to individuals such as MP Basil Rajapaksa being named as the interim-President by showing a 113 majority in Parliament.
The MP claimed no individual can gain a 113 majority in Parliament if two individuals contest for Presidency.
MP Weerawansa claimed the only option is to reach decisions through collective discussions.
