The opposition claims it is willing to support the formation of an interim administration without taking up any posts.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake said that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarians agreed to support the proposals presented to form an interim government considering the current situation in the country.
MP Attanayake added that his faction was willing to consider the proposal pertaining to the formation of an interim government following the enactment of the 21st Constitutional Amendment and the abolishment of the Executive Presidency.
Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake said that he believes that due to the current situation in the country and the demand of the citizens, the 21st constitutional amendment should be enacted.
The MP further added that he believes that incumbent parliamentarians should vote for the enactment of the 21st constitutional amendment.
MP Tissa Attanayake further added that there have been many gazettes regarding the 21st Constitutional Amendment and that a proposal that they had submitted has been approved for discussion.
The MP added that they are willing to discuss and improve the draft 21st constitutional amendment before it being passed in Parliament.
