Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says a new genre of land theft is taking place at present.
MP Premadasa said the country’s local resources are being sold to foreign countries for a small sum while public property is being sold off.
Premadasa said all measures to stand against the law of the jungle being enforced will be taken.
Speaking to media in Panama, the Opposition Leader said the government has vested 40% of the Yugadanavi Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya with an American firm while other land areas have also been sold to fireign countries.
He claimed this is public property and does not belong to an individual or group.
MP Premadasa said the present government came into power claiming to be patriots who will protect the country’s assets.
MP Premadasa added sustainable development that is beneficial to the public should be ensured.
He said remaining stagnant is not suitable as progress is required.
However the Parliamentarian said religions, cultures and subcultures must be protected when moving forward.
He said all aspects of tourism cannot be accepted adding environmental conservation tourism can be implemented as proposed by area residents
