President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne expressed hope that private bus operations will return to normal today (6).
When inquired by NewsRadio, he said they received a positive response from authorities yesterday pertaining to the fuel allocation for buses.
Therefore, Wijeratne expressed hope that buses will function to a certain extent today.
Several private bus unions withdrew from services yesterday claiming that the fuel released through the National Fuel Pass QR code was insufficient for a week’s use.
Commuters were severely inconvenienced and stranded at bus halts owing to the lack of buses.
The strike was called off last evening.
