Minister Johnston Fernando says the government will not allow substandard fertiliser to be imported to Sri Lanka.
Speaking to media in Kandy the Minister said certain opposition groups are spreading false claims focused on the fertiliser issue.
Minister Fernando said ships cannot enter ports in the country forcefully, adding that politicians who are unaware of laws in the country are making such bogus statements.
The Minister added Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage made a similar statement in this regard yesterday and reiterated that any substandard goods will not be allowed entry to the country.
The Minister said numerous concessions will be provided to the public through the 2022 Budget.
Minister Fernando vowed to develop the country to the government’s expected goal adding that certain matters at the moment are temporary.
The Minister also charged that the fertiliser issue is being aggravated by the opposition adding that it is a mere slogan by the opposition.
