Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Manusha Nanayakkara says a sense of trust must be instilled in expatriates pertaining to foreign remittances.

The Minister speaking during the weekly Cabinet media briefing today requested Sri Lankans living overseas and expatriates to support the country during the prevalent crisis.

Minister Nanayakkara said many questions are raised over the funds being utilised diligently and the programmes the funds are aimed towards.

The Minister noted that accountability regarding remittances must be upheld adding that the government will act with utmost responsibility in this regard.

Minister Nanayakkara also claimed that individuals overseas, who studied through the country’s free education system and taxpayer’s money, should hold a sense of responsibility to serve the country during such trying times.
