The Education Professionals Association has claimed it will not end its trade union struggle, despite various threats by government factions, until the salary anomalies of teachers and principals are resolved.
Speaking during a media briefing today, President of the Association Venerable Ulapane Sumangala Thera accused a number of unions affiliated to the government of intimidating and leveling threats at protesting teachers and principals.
Ulapane Sumangala Thera said it is unfortunate that the government does not have the same interest and dedication to resume academic activities in schools as it had to allow liquor outlets to re-open.
The Thera said the government is not keen on serving justice to students and teachers by taking appropriate decisions.
Ulapane Sumangala Thera noted that the principals and teachers reform the students and the future of the country, and therefore they will not bow to threats of various Ministers and union leaders.
