The opposition says it is pleased if a decision has been taken by the government to finally seek the support of the International Monetary Fund.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Parliamentarian Thushara Indunil Amarasena said if the government goes to the IMF or attempts to resolve the country’s economic crisis; it will be a positive move.
He claimed that there were several reasons why the government was reluctant to approach the International Monetary Fund.
MP Amarasena said since the government will be questioned on its governing mechanism and human rights record, it was hesitant to seek IMF support.
He said however the opposition is pleased that the present administration has finally decided to give up on its tribal politics and has taken a progressive step towards resolving the issues faced by the country.
