Wheat flour prices in the country have been increased.
A kilogram of Prima wheat flour has been increased by Rs.40 while a kilogram of Serendib wheat flour has been increased by Rs.35.
Prima informed dealers island wide this morning, to increase the prices.
Agents said the price of a kilogram of wheat flour which was sold at Rs.120 will increase to Rs.160 with the new price hike.
An official with the Prima Company said the US dollar crisis and rising fuel prices pushed wheat flour companies to increase prices.
Meanwhile, retailers and wholesalers said the prices of several essential commodities including sugar, coconut oil, and red lentils has increased.
