Minister of Justice Ali Sabry says all facts regarding the incidents that allegedly took place at the Welikada and Anuradhapura Prisons, will be uncovered through an investigation being conducted by a State Minister.
Speaking to media in Colombo, the Minister said citizens are entitled to be considered innocent until proven guilty and therefore called for the benefit of the doubt to be granted.
The Minister said ethically the government and State Minister Lohan Ratwatte have a responsibility to apologise over the incidents.
Minister Sabry said in addition determinations are being made if any inmate was harmed.
He claimed as stated in Parliament, the events that took place and the individuals responsible will be revealed through stringent investigations.
