The opposition blames the visions and decisions of Presidents who ran the country since mid 1990s for the current predicament.
Speaking during an event in Colombo, Parliamentarian Harsha de Silva claimed that multiple Presidents took incorrect decisions which have led to the current crisis.
MP de Silva said while countries such as Bangladesh and Vietnam progressed with the support of the international community, Sri Lanka is in isolation at present due to inward looking policies.
The Parliamentarian claimed even Middle Eastern countries are unwilling to support Sri Lanka at present.
He said leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have not been forthcoming in extending their support to Sri Lanka even during the current climate.
MP Harsha de Silva claimed that the development was confirmed by the Maldivian Parliamentary Speaker and former President, Mohamed Nasheed who has been appointed by the government as a as the coordinator to secure foreign aid to Sri Lanka.
MP de Silva also said the government will struggle to deal with the current issues until the end of this year.
