A Gazette Notification has been issued appointing the Chairman of the United National Party Wajira Abeywardena to the UNP National List seat in Parliament that has been left vacant.
The vacancy arose with Ranil Wickremesinghe being elected President.
The Gazette Notification was issued last night with the signatures of all members of the Election Commission including the Chairman.
Accordingly, Wajira Abeywardena is expected to take oath as a Member of Parliament during the next Parliament session.
