The opposition claims members of the Viyathmaga organisation who were instrumental in appointing the present government should resign immediately.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Parliamentarian Imthiaz Bakeer Markar said he will not challenge the mandate given by the public but is concerned about the mass resignation of senior civil servants.
MP Bakeer Markar noted that senior civil servants such as Secretaries of Ministries are resigning from their posts since they cannot work independently.
He said the country has never witnessed such mass resignations.
MP Bakeer Markar stressed that members of the Viyathmaga organisation should resign instead of civil servants.
On a separate note, Parliamentarian Imthiaz Bakeer Markar requested the government to be sensitive to the issues faced by the public.
MP Bakeer Markar claimed that the public will not be patient any longer since they are burdened by the current financial crises.
The Parliamentarian said the Governor of the Central Bank has admitted that billions of rupees have been printed in recent times.
He said the mass printing of money has resulted in inflation rising at a rapid pace.
MP Bakeer Markar noted that the value of the rupee has also depreciated owing to money printing.
He therefore requested the government to provide necessary concessions instead of burdening the public further.
