The verdict on continuing the case filed by the Attorney General against former Minister Basil Rajapaksa over misappropriating state funds to purchase a plot of land and build a luxurious home in Malwana, Dompe will be issued today, by the Gampaha Magistrates Court.
Basil Rajapaksa, the first defendant in the case, was served three indictments by the Attorney General for misappropriating state funds to purchase a 16 acre plot of land, and build a luxurious home.
Despite the verdict on continuing the case being scheduled for the 13th of May, it was later postponed since Basil Rajapaksa informed the Supreme Court that he will not be attending the hearing owing to the situation in the country, while the other defendant in the case informed Court through his lawyers that he will not be present in court due to illness.
Accordingly, the final verdict on continuing the case was postponed to today.
